Studying abroad with the SAT
The SAT is not only for Israeli universities. A quick map of where the score helps abroad and what else you need.
Jordan
Jordanian universities usually admit students from Israel through the bagrut equivalence; the SAT is required or preferred at some private universities and English-taught programs.
- ✓Ask the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education about bagrut equivalence.
- ✓Medicine and engineering are more competitive — a high Math score matters.
- ✓Some private universities accept the SAT instead of internal entrance exams.
Europe
Many English-taught programs in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Hungary require or value the SAT, especially with a non-local high-school certificate.
- ✓Check each program: some set a minimum (e.g. 1200+).
- ✓Language tests (IELTS/TOEFL) are usually required in addition to the SAT.
- ✓Application deadlines are early (January–April) — plan an SAT date before them.
United States & Canada
The SAT is the core admission test for US universities, and most again require or recommend it. Canada accepts it for non-local certificates.
- ✓1400+ opens merit scholarships at many universities.
- ✓Early applications are due in November — October is the last convenient SAT date.
- ✓Send scores officially from College Board (4 free reports within 9 days of the test).
Before you decide
- 1Pick 3 programs and read their actual requirements (SAT, language, GPA).
- 2Estimate the full cost: tuition + housing + visa.
- 3Confirm your high-school certificate is recognised in the destination country.
- 4Choose an SAT date at least two months before application deadlines.
General guidance only; requirements differ by program and change yearly.
